Description

Mentorship is a transformative experience that can support a student’s academic success and career preparation. CAP’s mentorship programs are designed to align with each academic semester so that goals can correspond with academic work. Every CAP student is invited to participate.

Our Professional Mentorship Program pairs working professionals with students to provide a rich and valuable opportunity for professionals to share their skills and experiences to demystify the transition from academic to professional practice.

We ask our mentors to keep an eye on your inbox for a mentorship request. Once received, update your profile to ensure students can find your overlapping passion areas more easily.

Professional Mentor Responsibilities:
- Act as an advisor and coach: provide guidance, share experience, explain processes, give feedback
- Share experiences: visit job sites, discuss research or community work, attend lectures
- Offer resources and recommendations: suggest books, precedents, tutorials and/or podcasts that will assist students in their personal growth
- Cheerlead: provide encouragement in trying new things, celebrate successes, help process missteps and mistakes
- Listen and ask: don’t provide all the answers, ask questions, accept that failure is essential to learning

Time Commitment can be as little as 1 hour per month.
